Couldn't they find another story, like she being adopted daugther of the king or something?
Well, who could blame Dar, if I had a cousin like her...
I'm pretty sure that its implied that Dar and the young prince were from different mothers, so it could be that Kiri was not a blood relation if she was related to the prince's mother and not King Zed.
