Is it just me (surely not) or does this film provide numerous sights of the delectable Miss Roberts' pubic region? As she's flung around the place and her leathers ride up, I swear you can make out what normally wouldn't be in a PG film. Or is it just me and wishful thinking?

shareIn the 1970s there were lots of nipples in several Carry On films (which were rated 'A'), and then there was a period of time in the 1980s when there were a fair few breasts in PG films(eg Sheena Queen of the Jungle, Police Academy 2, Airplane 2, Clash of the Titans, King David, Saturn 3). Perfectly harmless in my opinion, as long as it wasn't done in an overly sexual way, which was presumably also the opinion of the BBFC at the time. Also, pubic hair started creeping into AAs (and then 15s) and the end of the 70s/start of the 80s, which hadn't been seen before that (eg Life of Brian, 1984). Then along came the 12 certificate in 1989 (replicating America's PG13 rating) and any films with naked breasts got moved into that category, probably not a bad move. I wonder whether Nuns on the Run, with its delectable long shower scene, would have got a PG? [My opinion is that there shouldn't be F words in 12s, but that's a whole new debate.] In the meantime, anyone have a favourite PG rated nudity scene?

PG-13 didn't exist as a rating yet at this time.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was one of the main inspirations for making that rating, and Red Dawn, released about a year later, was the first official release with that rating.
So, prior to '84, it was more common to see breasts in PG movies, but it did depend on the connotation.
Pretty sure she was wearing a "thong" that happened to be very close in colour to her flesh tones.
Purely out of scientific curiosity (ahem) I freeze framed a few of the abovementioned scenes in The Beastmaster, just tonight, and while not certain I was able to determine no conclusive proof of anything but said thong.
In the Italian sword&sorcery flick "Hearts and Armour" you DO get a quick glimpse of that "area" as she sits on a horse, and from what I can remember of my numerous (once again) "scientific" inspections of this scene, it appears that Tanya Roberts is/was a natural redhead.
I can't believe I am writing this, but you gents need this info.
There is an 'easter egg' on the Anchor Bay DVD (don't ask me how to find it, I forgot), and when selected, it shows you many minutes of "raw" footage of love scenes, skirts blown up by wind, et al, all featuring the comely Miss Roberts. The love scenes are of particular interest as after shooting them, it was deemed unlikely the film would get a PG rating. So it is that footage on the disc.

Go to Extras, then go down to main menu, push over to the right. It highlights the eyeball ring and gives some bonus Tanya. Although it really isn't that great. A great shot of her butt which appears to reveal NO thong as mentioned above, and like one good shot of her boobs. Nothing too special, but an easter egg none the less. Enjoy!

It's rushes --- or "dailies." NOT remastered. No sound. "Clapper" at front and end, I think. But its also very clear, if that's what you are asking. Its not "some old VHS from a guy's garage."

shareRushes/dailies is a term that refers to what you describe as "unremastered film." Its basically the film right out of the camera and just back from being developed. When people make a movie, they will often, in the evening, view the footage they shot during the day; they'll review all the takes and shots. Thus, they view the "daily footage," or the "dailies." The dailies are developed quickly at the lab so they can be looked at in short order. They are "rushed."
Hope this helps! To address your question, "rushes/dailies" has no reference to the length of the shot. They are not necessarily brief or short. But since no editing has been done, the scenes in question cannot be longer than one mag of film stock; ie, no more than 3 minutes? (Somebody more informed can be more specific.) And not all takes shot in the day are printed either. Etc.
In a similarly controlled, experimental environment I learned that precise "pausing" of Resident Evil in the closing minutes reveals a very clear shot of Milla Javovich's hoo-hoo. I don't recall the rating of RE but there is nary an exposed breast in the whole thing so this shot was either a mistake or a very clever placement.
