the 'eagle men' and the juns...

i've been watching this film ever since... well, since i can remember. and there's always something new to notice about it. so, having just finished watching it, i had an epiphany...
are the 'eagle men' and the juns related somehow?
the juns, in the final battle, make some rather inhuman noises, especially when they're on fire. also, they wear helmets that have only eye holes, with no ventilation for breathing. which kind of implies a lack of nose or mouth, like the eagle men. and the leader's impressive bat-wing ears seem to be organic, rather than part of his helmet. i'm not saying they're necessarily the same, but perhaps that they're more closely related to one another than either are to humans. perhaps not unlike how lions and hyenas are related...

i believe the beastmaster was based of a series of writings and books. there might be something in those writings.

reply

it's based, very loosely, on a science fiction novel about a guy who can communicate telepathically with animals, but, as far as i know, that's where the similarities end.

then i'd love to know where they got the inspiration and origins for the 'eagle men'.

reply

It's called imagination.

Btw I think those bat wing ears are more animal antlers. That's what it looked like to me.

1. The Juns are just plain ole humans.

2. The Eagle Men are from the same tribe Seth(John Amos) is from, that's obvious. :)

3. And yes, hyenas are more closely related to felines, than canines.

Those were supposed to be eaglemen? I kept thinking of them as batmen. They were more like bats than anything else, except perhaps dragons, maybe. Actually, they were like a combo of bat, dragon, mummy and The Toxic Avenger. Plus, their silence, stature and ominous presence reminded me of the Gaoul from "Titan A.E.".

reply

Wow that's a great comparison.

reply

The credits just refer to them as winged creatures.
