The scott (hitchiker) character seemed out of place for an ealry 80's sex comedy.
Scott seemed wayy too 70's and just didn't fit in, seemed almost like a creep how he got all hooked on that girl right away.. Maybe if they took their time they could have thought up a better character to fill his void... just a thought...
Scott should have had his butt kicked. At one point in the movie, he is about to go skinny dipping with everyone else. Sarah does not want to and he tells Sarah she has to learn to lighten up and not be so uptight. Later, in the movie, Sarah decides to let go, and she starts dancing around with that guy who starts feeling her up. Now Scott is ticked off, and he gets all angry with Sarah who is finally letting go.
Scott was just a hypocritical hippie SOB. Someone should have smashed his guitar over his head, and knocked some sense into him.

they (writers) could have found another character to create in place of him. Like maybe one of the 2 girls have a cousin so hes not so a stranger like Scott was. make him cool, funny and good lookin for Sarah.
shareDisagree. I think the hitchhiker is one of the more interesting characters. I like the concept of "bumming around the country", just sounds fun. There were plenty of beach bums in Cali then, so his character was sort of realistic.

Well, y’see, the idea about being a beach bum who bums around the WHOLE COUNTRY means the beach bum needs A FUCKING BEACH. Tiny flaw right there. But, hey: a movie that thinks the Coast Guard has the right to search A HOUSE ON DRY LAND with NO search warrant and hold the people in the house at gun-point doesn’t give a fuck about aught but tits and pussy and ass, so I shan’t complain.
shareScott was the hero to prevent the other two from marching all over Sarah. I think he was a little old for the role but overall his character worked well in the script.
