Funniest parts in Basket Case!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yea, the opening scene where the scared old fart screams "Who's there? Oh no, GOD no!" - is too funny for words. I love 'Casey', the hot prostitute who tries to befriend Duane (or is it Dwayne?). Of course, Belyle winds up stealing her panties & trying to grope her in her bed!!
Then Duane hooks up with that easy chick he meets at the Dr's office & takes her home (when Belyle gets jealous) and has her in bed....he then throws her out of his room and she screams out "Duaaaaayynne!" - I F'ing love that part too.
And lastly, when that old bastard tries to steal his wad of cash (that he LEAVES LYING AROUND THE ROOM!) & almost gets away with it....but he HAS to look inside that damn Basket! Last mistake he ever makes - Belyle jumps on his head & claws his face apart!!! CLASSIC!!!!!

BASKET CASE - It's Alive in a Basket!

The funniest and best part for me is when Belial kills Dr.Kutter and she ends up with all those scalpals sticking out of her face.I was laughing hysterically.

reply

That's not bad....what about when Belial steals that hooker's panties? LOL~ In Basket Case 2, he meets a girl-freak!

i love the scene where belial gets all crazy in the hotel broslin.
When Duane kisses the bimbo then Belial sticks his head up and starts screaming and crush the hotel room.

reply

Yea, that was funny - the poor girl didn't know WHAT was going on since he tossed a blanket over her head, but that little basturd was raising hell cuz he was jealous of Dewayne! hahahaha!

i also love the hotel manager, when he says " This is a respectable hotel" or "run all crazy up the stairs and says "this is not a hotel its a crazy house".

to bad they do not make movies like this more, its so funny and orginal.

those crazy names like dr lifflander, dr needleman and j cutter sound like something taken from a seinfeld episode, where cosmo kramer comes up with different dr names of himself like dr van nostrum or dr pennypacker.

and the hooker who takes duane out one night, i always thought she looks like a man.

none of my friends like this movie, they think its stupid and boring.
but then they also hate movies like toxic avenger and christmas evil so screw em.

the part where duane goes to look after an hotel, a man comes after him offering him all kind of drugs even hookers, this scene i think looks like the scene from taxi driver and the exterminator.

reply

Yea, I like the pimp in the beginning quoting all the drugs he can get and Dewaynes such a timid little nerd, he just keeps on walking! What part in Taxi Driver does it remind you of? I know there's some scummy pimps in it, but don't recall that - unless you mean 'Easy Andy', the Traveling gun salesman...?!
"This is Dr. Lifflander! Oh God, God no!" - H I L A R I O U S !
Too bad yer friends don't 'get it' - maybe if they were half-stoned they might go along with it for a while? I hate when people are incapable of giving an indy film half a chance!
Depends on how 'young' they are - I think this 'new generation' is probably so used to video games and perfect FX, they see that clamation/acting as if it were done in the 1960's - when it was really 1982! They're just too stuck up to give a low budget film a chance!

reply

i think i might mixed up the pimp scene with the exterminator, but the whole dark gritty look on new york nightlife is very simuluar to both taxi driver and the exterminator.

i can understand that people nowdays prefers remakes of old cult and classic horror movies, they are much more commerical, and the main charachters are a bunch of pretty dolls and macho men. in movies like basket case, the main charachters are not over the top pretty or anything, they are more normal.

i hate all these new remake crap movies, hope not some *beep* comes up trying to make an remake of basket case.

reply

Yer right - perfect example:
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 with Jessica Biel, falling out of her top! Nice to see BUT, this was like the "MTV version" of TCM and it's just not right to have 'pretty kids' who are clueless! I mean, these kids probably weren't even born till 10 years AFTER the first one hit the screen! Other examples: Urban Legend, Wrong Turn, Scream 1, 2, 3, 4, Final Destination 1, 2, 3; etc.!

i dont think its even supposed to be funny, but i love the "leading" ladys face when she acts.... i havent seen it for awhile but i loved her random mouse impression........ "my typewriter, it makes a squeaking sound like a mouse... SQUEE SQUEE SQUEE!" - as i said i havent seen it for awhile but randomly thats the bit that stuck in my head, maybe because me and my mates mustve rewound that scene over and over again, well we were drunk :) but still funny as hell.

oh yeah and any scene with belial going crazy was hilarious.......

this is definitely a great movie to watch with a few beers and friends!

Funniest scene in Basket Case is Belial trashing the hotel room. I love the scene with him shaking the bed. It cracks me up every time.

Ya, that's the infamous 'clamation' scene - it was still kinda new "technology", but I guess they really had no way of making a puppet Belial move in real/reel time, as they could with stop-motion photography & clamation stunts?
When Belial rages & screams, it's a "sock puppet", but when he shakes the bed, he's being shown in 'clamation'/stop-photography mode.
For an indy, film, that's on, esp. for 1982...I do kind of wonder what the total cost for this movie was back then? It's probably on this site, so I'll check.
Thanks!

Not really new technology, they've been doing stop-motion effects since the silent era.

My head hurts, my teeth itch, my feet stink, and I don't love Jesus.

reply

That's probably MY favourite too. But any scenes involving Belial's jealous rage are hilarious!

reply

I had to laugh when Belial grabbed Dwayne's balls and held him in the air. That was just bad.

You know, I've been lucky. Somebody up there likes me.
Somebody down here, too.

reply

"I had to laugh when Belial grabbed Dwayne's balls and held him in the air. That was just bad." - agreed!

But what's dumb is that, in Basket Case 2, it supposedly takes place the very same night, but it's actually like 12 years later! The dude, Dwayne, has aged & is like 38 years old but has to act like he's still a 20-something!
Anyway, just sayin' that Dewayne survives the ball-grab & Belial survives the fall too- and they go on to....avenge other ugly creatures of the night! LOL ;)

It has to be when Belyle gets jealous of the chick his brother's trying to score with.

reply

the clay-motion scene where Belyle goes ape-sh*t in Duane's apartment throwing papers & yelling out loud while going nut-zoid

Don't forget:
"That guy is loaded!"
"So are you!"

That's the old man who breaks into Dwaynes room to steal his wad of money & gets a face-dance by Belyle! LMAO! ;)

the funniest is the fact that the twin freak was the part that get more action than the normal brother. she had sex with the blonde and get the panties from the hooker for him.lol

reply

Ok, but Belyle/Belial the little freaky basket case, was a dude/brother, not a chick/sister!
