Watched this yesterday afternoon on the CHILLER channel. You know, it's Easter, Jesus Christ has risen and I'm watching devil-themed films. Anyway ...
I already checked the GOOFS page, but I didn't find anything. Are the "eye" windows on both sides of the house? I know that Sonny has the eye windows in his room, but Trisha has the same windows in her room, too. Thanks.
"FRA-GEE-LAY. That's Italian!" "I think that says 'fragile', honey."
thats actually a good question. since i am at work I cant review the film and the pics I have seen of the house show only the front of the house and the left side with the eye windows. the pics never seem to show the right side of the house... good question there :)
as for the pic of the Toms River, NJ house.. what happened to the rest of the house.. the house in the photo looks about half the size than the house that was used in the original movie.. the house looks nice but it looks about half the size.
about Amityville 2,, if you remember the outdoor scene party that was in the yard.. this is side of the house that faces the river. that is where the party was... remember Sunny is looking at Dawn from the window outside. that backyard is where the river is on the side of the house.
On the real house in Amityville, the eye windows faced the street over the enclosed porch.
In the first three movies, the enclosed porch was on the river end of the house. In the first two movies, the eye windows were on both ends of the house. In the third movie, they're only shown on the river end with regular windows on the street end when viewed from outside. However, the introduced a blooper into the third movie since Susan chooses the room with the eye windows, but if you look at how the interior of the house is laid out, her room would be facing the street and not the river.
I can exslain this. The first two Amityville movies were filmed in Tom's River NJ in a house that had the eye windows on BOTH ends of the house. This is how a window shatters in the first Amityville and appears to be shown intact afterwards. It is the window on the other end of the house. The actual DeFeo house had the windows only on the end facing the street. There is a regular window from the top floor on the end that faces the river. The iconic windows have been changed by subsequent owners in an attempt to disguise the house and deter tourists. As for the house in the 2005 (or 06) remake, I don't know what they were thinking when they used that house but it was ALL wrong and not even worth talking about. The actual house is Dutch Colonial and the new version looks like a cross between the Addams family home, house of seven gables and Dracula's castle.
