Dardano Sacchetti on Amityville II

I recently spoke to screenwriter Dardano Sacchetti (The Beyond, Demons, The Last Hunter) on his experience writing Amityville II

his reply on the screenplay was definitely not what I expected.

Seems his Amityville II screenplay was for an original movie about an "Entity" that dwelled in an old house and haunted children. Only the children could see this being that took the shape of an Ogre

Apparently his original idea was the basis for what became "La Casa dell'Orco" (Demons III: The Ogre)

Here's what he said himself, originally in Italian, I've done my best to translate it into English:

"I wrote a story whose title was "The Ogre". Then I was in London and the setting was English. I wrote a first draft that I saw with Colin Wilson, but then I moved to New York and the project began to change. There was a first rewrite made by me and Damian, then Frederick, the son of DeLaurentiis died in a plane crash. The production stopped. Dino did not seem to have the will to live, I went back to Italy a few months later. A couple of years later the project was taken up and re-written by Tommy Lee Wallace. Of my original script, apart from the idea of the story, would have been 25/30%

My story was based on an "entity" that lurked in an old house, an evil entity identified as "the ogre", a fantastic figure who loves to devour children and of which only the children experience the presence ... the entity transforms into the a "diabolic" presence, it was pretty simple ... Dino had bought the rights to the sequel to Amityville and the project took another form

The Amityville II screenplay was by Tommy Lee Wallace, but the discussion was started with Damian, it was he who wanted to change the script, we worked together between October and January, then the work was resumed a year and a half later and changed further."
