Would you have shot Daddy?
If you were Sonny would you have blown away Anthony during the family fight after he chased his kids around the house?

shareNo, kids need good discipline.

Looked more like overkill discipline to me.
Anthony was a *beep* to his family so I didn't have any sympathy when he was offed.
No, kids need good discipline.
Amen.
I will say this - at the risk of the censoring brigade - that if my father ever pulled the *beep* that Anthony did to his family on me I would have blown his head off.

LOL... come now. She was held captive by her religious beliefs. She was a strict Catholic and they don't believe in divorce. Pity.
Nice to see that her religion really rubbed off on Sonny though. Incest and murder all in the family. :P

Want my 'brutally honest' answer? Neither.
Sorry, but it's all a sham. I just don't buy any of it. It makes for interesting books and films but that's as far as it goes for yours truly.
God and Satan are creations of man... nothing more, nothing less.
This whole Amityville saga is just absolute *beep* with the exception of the DeFeo family massacre. That was very much real and one and only one person was responsible. No voices, no demons, no nothing... except for a deranged individual and a murdered family. That's all it was.

Could it be perhaps that they all may be deluded?
My sermon of the day is to think for yourself, do not be influenced by what 'society' tells you to do (after all, individuals are usually right whereas crowds are usually not), and just be happy with what you have. You can do those without any deity or 'holy' book.

The problem is that the majority of people are not that bright or do not have a logical course of thinking - thinking for one self presumes that no-one else is capable of doing better. Most of the infrastructure of Western societies have been built on Christian thinking - obviously people who "think for themselves" don't think this deeply so don't realize the extent that religion and philosophy have affected their lives. Look at other parts of the world that have different religions and ideologies: you've got your Muslim regimes where your rights and freedom are dramatically curbed, and your Communist nations where the majority of the population lives in poverty. The only reason that we in the West have economic prosperity and personal freedom is because other people intellectually superior to ourselves have done the thinking for us.
shareSorry but I take exception to your assertion. Basically, you are saying that 'Christian thinking' is 'superior' and I couldn't disagree more.
I also take exception to your last statement as it is a gross and hugely inaccurate generality. Economic prosperity? Personal freedom? Tell that to those who went through Katrina - particularly those who had their 'personal freedom' trumped by abusive racist 'authority' (think Gretna). Tell that to those who are losing jobs and homes to 'outsourcing' - blessed by greedy capitalists. Tell that to those who have been victims of racial and economic discrimination.
I'm not going to say that any system is 'better' or 'worse' than another. That would be mightily arrogant. Sure, there are individual aspects of capitalism that are 'good' just as there are individual aspects of socialism and Communism that are 'good' HOWEVER no system is superior to another.

^^^I dunno man, I would say capitalism beats the hell out communism even with the bad aspects of capitalism, considering the bang up job people have done in the past with a communist system in place.
Speaking as an atheist, I agree. But it always astounds me how religious people can still love their God in the face of so much pain and heartache. Take The Kennedys, Catholics who in my opinion have been treat very badly by their God. And the same goes for the fictional Dolores, years of Holy worship counted for zero when evil gripped Sonny so easily.
Maybe it is because we don't all expecect God to fix everything and make things all smooth sailing in our lives?
I have faith, and I also realize how horrible life can be. If there wasn't any bad we probably couldn't appreciate any of the good. The way I see it God was the creator but he doesn't regulate every last thing that goes on in the world. People have free will and as a result some turn bad. I think your criticism comes from a lack of understanding and assuming that all religious people should have unrealistic expectations.

No, lay off the crack
shareWell, she did threaten to leave him unless he apologized to Father Adamsky.
shareTrue, but I don't think she would have carried it out. It would have been against her 'religion'. :)

lunar, shut up. Let me whip you with my belt and see how you like it.

Not shoot him. Poison him. More painful. He put his family through hell. Now it's his turn!

I wonder what Anthony did for a living.

Yeah, that's true. Anthony's personality seemed to mesh well with that of a car salesman. He seemed shady enough to also have had organised crime connections as well.

Maybe he was a cop. The 'Pigs!' was deliberately written to upset him.
If you guys think that he should have been killed, early on, for his dysfunctional behavior, then most people would be dead today. Hardly anyone would be left.
How come no one wants Sonny to die? He must be EVERYONE's hero and not just Trisha's. LOL

I always assumed he was a contractor or just in the construction field somehow.

I had an abusive father. He didn't beat us with a belt, but his abusive alcoholic ways was enough. He's lucky I didn't have a gun in the house. We were glad when they finally split.
shareHell yeah I would have shot "daddy" and in fact came very close one night in 1983 of killing my stepfather and in 1988 to killing my stepmother. It is painful thinking about it now that I am 31 and also disturbing that I once thought of lowering myself to murder but, I don't know who step parents think they are but they have no right laying any hands on children that aren't theirs. Kids who are at the hands of abusers should have every means to protect themselves.
shareYes! That man is a sick freak that needs to go down. Dexter would have taken him to his kill room and taken care of business.

You'd better believe that if that was my dad, he would have gone down if he put his hands on me like he did those children.

I agree, the dad deserved it. He was a blustery-mouthed cruel asshat who had a wonderful family, yet crapped all over them at every chance.
The mother was loving but a douchebag. She needed to kick that guy OUT.
"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."
Nope. I think daddy was cool and a great role model for parents.
