Springwood, Ohio

I thought it was awesome they kept mentioning the fictional town of Springwood Ohio in this film, which pre-dates A Nightmare On Elm Street. I am sure it was a Bob Shaye/ New Line thing, but still really cool!

It was actually Sholder's idea. He created the fictional town "Springwood" and liked it so much, he carried it over into the NOES series. Funny thing was, even though it predates the NOES series, within the NOES series, it became a legendary town in horror culture.

Sholder stated he created it in Never Sleep Again(A Nightmare on Elm Street documentary).

Actually, it's not Ohio. The town mentioned is the fictional Springwood, New Jersey. You can see 'NJ' is listed on the mailing address of the envelope addressed to Dr. Potter. Also, the license plate on the stolen van is a NJ license plate. So maybe they kept the name 'Springwood' for NOES, but it's not the same town.

I was going to point out the same thing. The setting is definitely New Jersey, not Ohio, in light of the license plates, the relative proximity of Philadelphia and other references.
