Ang Lee making picture?

Another TV series about cops. This was very successful in the 80s, and a commercial television channel here in Sweden broadcasted reruns of it back in 1991 or 1992, I think.
Will be nice if someone can hang on the trend with making movies of old cult series and do something out of it. Knight Rider and Miami Vice are planned so far. Then why not TJ Hooker?
Make it as a nice and family-friendly matinée kind of film. Not any brutal action sequences, please! William Shatner can have a cameo, because he’s too old to be a cop again. And nothing less than the wonderful Ang Lee to direct.
It’s a must to focus on other characters. Maybe the grandson to the old policeman has joined the force by now? His name can be Malik, and he’s a very correct and polite person. But he’s easily fooled by those who want to use him for fun or for own purposes. Perhaps there will be lots of crimes. So many that Malik feels that he doesn’t cope with it. There’s too much to do. And his boss is pushing him harder because he thionk that Malik shall do all the dirty jobs that nobody else want.
Matthew Lillard and David Gallagher can be casted, it would work just fine.
