New hope for season 3 DVD release

Mill Creek is re-releasing Seasons 1 & 2. Hopefully they will follow with the rest of the series.

reply

yes, season 3 and 4 were the best with Heather having full role and James Darren which added some acting credibility

reply

Yes, I agree. Season 3 might be my favorite. I believe it was Heather's best year on the series. I always enjoyed the episodes where she went undercover. James Darren was a great addition as well.

reply

That would be awesome. I bought seasons 1-2 a while back and found the show surprisingly fun and enjoyable, so its been quite the wait to see more. And its not like the show is all over either, unless you want to buy edited poor quality versions on dvd that someone ripped off their vhs years ago.

We're police officers! We're not trained to handle this kind of violence!

reply

I am very surprised the show has not seen another DVD release. I think most people that give the show a chance, would really like it. I think it is well written, and has a good amount of humor and action. Also the cast works really well together. William Shatner is the star and Heather Locklear provides a lot of sex appeal for the male viewer, especially in season 3.

reply

I would think that Shatner alone would be enough to get the complete series a dvd release.

a big problem perhaps is MUSIC rights

expect that any Mills Creek release from S3 and S4 to have cut musics or generic replacment

reply

Not only that but Mill Creek has a bad track record with releasing stuff on DVD. They are the last company I want to release the remaining seasons of this show. They re-released highway to heaven on DVD recently and it was bad. They are always doing poor quality and somehow stay in business. They're also re-releasing starsky and hutch for some reason.

reply

I don't remember T.J. Hooker having a lot of music in it that would be replaced. Shows like Greatest American Hero & Hunter were stripped of all the great songs that made those shows great. I don't know why they re-release seasons that have already been released and that are still available to purchase. I was hoping Shout Factory would get the rights.

reply

I wanted shout to finish tj hooker on dvd also.

reply

I just read that Mill Creek is Re-releasing Married with Children. They have stated that the original theme music will be used and the episodes will be uncut. This is great news hopefully for a future release for T.J. Hooker. Season 3 was probably my favorite. Hopefully a release is coming soon.

reply

Hahaha...sounds great but wait till the dvd's come out and we see the quality.

reply

The Married with Children set did have the original music and the episodes are uncut. Also the quality looked pretty good to me.

reply

How many episodes per disk? They usually compress the heck out of the episodes...maybe they have been better about that lately. I have yet to see a decent dvd set come from Millcreek...and everyone has a different opinion on what good picture quality is.

Millcreek is usually pixelated or has a weird jerking motion to the picture from what I've seen anyway.

reply

There are 11 to 12 episodes per disk. There are a total of 4 discs, 2 for each season. You are right that different people have different opinions on quality.

reply

No way?! 11-12 episodes per disk? That's really bad!!

reply

Millcreek's deal with Sony only covers material that has already been released...in other words, they're only reissuing previous DVD sets, not putting out new to DVD material

Shout! Factory or VEI would be better bets for future sets of T.J. Hooker.

reply

Agreed. I contacted VEI and they did mention it is one of the showa they are considering.
