Kirk Vs Michael

ill take kirks insanity and directness over michaels nuanced kookiness anyday.

I like both. But, after watching the first season again as an adult. Kirk! For sure.

He also would have been much better with Stephanie. That episode where they got it on was something.

Michael should have been on there too of course. But, I would have loved seeing Kirk and Michael fight over Steph. With Kirk winning in the end.

Michael and Stephanie were only full blown annoying to me when they were actually in scenes together.

Yea, I have to agree. Kirk was annoying and a real jerk sometimes, but I could take him better than Michael. Michael was so spastic and hyper and tried too hard
to be hip and cool. He was a character for sure, but annoys me very much.

I think Michael was so much of a character that it felt hard to relate to him on a human level. He didn't seem human. Kirk however (despite his self absorbed, rude personality) definitely was easier to relate to as a flawed human being.

hated Kirk, my vote is for Michael

Kirk is my pick. I think that the problem people have with Kirk is his directness and possibly the underlying reasons for some of the things he said. Michael was goofy and materialistic and easier to understand. Kirk was a complicated mess of a human being and that is what made his awesome. You never knew what Kirk was going to say, while Michael was always easy to figure out.

reply

I laugh more at what Michael says and cringe at what Kirk says.

At first the show did have more of a realistic tone, but then it became surreal as it became a dream of Bob's.

reply

I prefer not just Kirk, but the first two seasons of the show in general. Every season had its moments, but Michael and Stephanie became insufferably silly and the Larry, Darryl & Darryl greeting got old really fast. When you force a gag into virtually every episode simply because it elicits a hoot from the audience, the writing inevitably begins to suffer.

Kirk was unpredictable, rude, self-centered, and greedy - the perfect character to spice things up at the Stratford Inn!
