Good read.
That WAS fun to read! Surprised to hear Bob was occasionally rude and Mary Frann could be a Prima Donna. Poor Daryl 2 being left by his wife when the show was cancelled!

Thanks, Dini.😃
The lady who wrote this blog seemed to have the inside scoop on the set. I wish she had given an anecdote about Peter Scolari though.

Thanks for posting the link to that article. Lots of interesting stuff there; which is great for us Newhart fans because there's never been much inside info on the show available online.
I knew about Newhart's refusal for his character to have any children, but never heard about William Sanderson knowing Elvis.
Thanks for your response.
I wish there were a lot more info about this show, I am glad we could at least get this inside view of life on the set.
Maybe someday someone will do a book on the show. I got the book about the Bob Newhart show called Hi Bob! which was a very comprehensive look at the show. I prefer the second show to the first so I would be very much interested in reading a tell all.
His actual quote was that he didn't want any "wise-cracking kids." Bless him for that! During the 80's and 90's we started having supposedly family-oriented shows where the kids offered very unkid-like dialogue that got lots of laughs, but which bordered on rude. I often just felt uncomfortable.

There. This should be all of 'em.
I was so surprised at the part about William Sanderson using chewing tobacco, since I knew he was a law school graduate in real life!!
But glad to hear Tom Poston was truly nice off screen. I always loved the unlikely late-in-life romance between him and Suzanne Pleshette.
In the girl scout troop episode, Bob ironically used his daughter Courtney as one of the ranger girl. The one in front who looks just like him.
