Good news. Though there is a change in headwriters and the show's quality starts to go downhill in season 7. The stuff where Michael is institutionalized was really too much and went on for quite a few episodes. This said, there are still some very noteworthy episodes in season 7 which I will probably post about later in the thread.

And I imagine we'll get the 8th season on DVD after the first of the year.

I didn't think the Michael episodes were so bad. A little different, but pretty entertaining.

I wanted to list my top 5 episodes for the seventh season:

1. 'Apples, Apples, Apples' -- where George & Michael hold rival festivals to celebrate Ye Olde Apple Days. A good story with the townsfolk.

2. 'The Nice Man Cometh' with guest Don Rickles. Newhart and Rickles are pals in real life and play off each other wonderfully in this episode.

3. 'The Little Match Girl' has Eileen Brennan returning as illustrator Corinne Denby. She has the funniest line of the season when she calls Joanna a sweater girl.

4. 'Georgie and Bess' -- George's aunt visits. The subplot is really great, with Dick playing a game of chess against one of Darryl's brothers.

5. 'Murder at the Stratley' is an excellent episode, where Joanna is missing and the whole town jumps to the conclusion that Dick has murdered her.

Agree on "Apples, Apples, Apples!"-a classic. Also loved "Town Without Pity"-the book burning episode, and agree with "Murder at the Stratley". Another favorite was "Another Saturday Night"-when the Darryls play dramatic piano music, and "Malling in Love Again"-seeing Stephanie and Michael interview for dates at the mall was hilarious.

There were many laugh out loud episodes from this season, I had to whittle it down to these 5:

1. Town Without Pity- after a serial killer uses one of Dick's books as a way to break out of prison, Dick finds that the town wants to burn his books. A great episode about the wacky townsfolk, Rebecca (Wings) Schull plays a guest who says "I hear when you read his books backwards, you get messages from Hell!"

2. Apples,Apples,Apples- Michael turns George's simple tribute to apples celebration into a glitzy Vegas type show with dancing girls and applesauce wrestling. A funny subplot has Dick sponsoring a walk-a-thon for Larry,Daryl and Daryl.

3. Twelve Annoyed Men And Woman-Dick has New England Patriots tickets but is stuck on jury duty. Hilarious townsfolk episode as one lone juror holds everything up because he is so happy to be hanging around with the group of people! Kathy Kinney makes her first appearance as Miss Goddard.

4. The Nice Man Cometh-Dick is forced to become a talk show stooge to an insult comic (Don Rickles). Funniest moments are the Pick On Dick sequences. After Rickles says that Merchant Marines love Dick's wife, Joanna gets some heavy breathing phone calls, she has a great line to them-"Go lift weights!"

5. Murder At The Stratley-The town thinks Dick's new novel about an inn keeper killing his wife has come true. Miss Goddard makes another appearance as the librarian who thinks Dick is lusting for her.
