What kind of car would you use as KITT?

If for some reason they never used the trams am what other type of car that was around at the time would you have like to seen as knight rider? I was thinking about this when I saw in trivia that originally a datsun 280z was going to be kitt before they saw the 3rd gen firebird.

my choices

1. Chrysler Conquest
2. DeLorean DMC-12
3. Porsche 944
4. Ferrari 308

reply

Gotta stick with a firebird. 1998 to 2002 ws6 ram air conversion package trans am! If it was possible, bring back the firebird in a similar body style to the current camaro ss with a trans am flare! That would be AWESOME!

If I were to build KITT today, I would use the 2013 Mustang GT

It would be a 2011 or newer Corvette ZR1. Imagine jet black with the red LED lightbar in the gap on the nose of the car in front of the hood!

This.^

A C6 Corvette as K.I.T.T. would be godly.

as i mentioned in another thread, the mustang used in the 2008 reboot was a bad choice and doesn't work. KITT is supposed to look futuristic. the Mustang is a retro design (harks back to the 60s stang) so fails in that regard.

I'd use a Tesla Model S P90D to start with.
Obviously the battery would need an upgrade.

Love it-an awesome fancy Camaro-Yes I know it is a Trans Am. Great Choice

A Ferrari F430

@speedolitec: The car has to be inconspicuous, not recognizable, since Michael Knight has to blend in to his surroundings, hence the use of a domestic sporty model like a Trans AM or a Mustang.

The car that was used in the original series wasn't "inconspicuous" at all when the series premiered! If anything, the Pontiac model from "Smokey and the Bandit" would've been more inconspicuous!

I have to say that is one bad ass picture of the future KITT. The red scanner needs to be a bit wider like in the 82 trans am version,

other than that, one bad ass car.

thanks

Nissan Sunny 1.6l engine 1986 model, black obviously.

From "KITT" to "S***".

Wow, I can't believe they almost used a Datsun 280Z. Cool car (One of my favorite all-time Hotwheels is the "Z-Whiz"), but it's a bit too... slight for K.I.T.T.

Going strictly with cars availible at the time, I'd choose an '82 Mustang GT 5.0. My Dad had one--all black--and I remember when he pulled in to the driveway one night my friend Jason said "It looks like a spaceship!".

If not the Trans Am, a rare futuristic looking car available in 1982? Well one obvious omission from peoples lists would be a Delorian! Which means in 1985, Doc Brown probably would have made a time machine out of a Trans Am.

A time-traveling DeLorean.

That could transform into 1982 Pontiac Trans-Am Firebird with special modifications.

There couldn't be a cooler car than that!

A Porsche 944 - first choice.

Maybe a Nissan 200 SX(first version with the pop-up headlights).

How about a Lotus Esprit or Jag D or E Type?

My choice would be either an Ultima GTR or a replica of the Dodge M4S aka the turbo interceptor. They're not very well known cars outside of a select circle, so they would stand out and give the show/movie character. Another car I would consider would be the corvette based dragon roadster with a hardtop conversion. here is the link.

So many possibilities!

The Dodge M4S would have been sweet as an updated KITT - it's a shame that Chrysler decided not to put this car into production, because it was a rear-engined 4-cylinder powerhouse.

Other possibilities (some may be a bit ... weird):

Corvette Stingray (80's vintage or modern).

Acura NSX

Chevy S-10 pickup. Yeah this is personal... I owned a black '89 S-10 in the early 90's, with a blacked-out custom grille with a Knight Rider sequencer mounted behind it, stuffed full of AV gear along with a CB/public address system. The rear license plate frame read "Knight Industries - Experimental Vehicle".

a 69 corvette with the chrome stripped off(or smoked Anodized black)and smoke windows with black, anodized seme-reflective tint. Twin Turbo V8 or V10. red scanner, a given! Though I think Michael Knight always preferred the 57 Chevy Bel Air.
