Spigot water in Columbus OH unsafe?

There was always an old water bottle dispenser in the Keaton's kitchen. The water dispenser was not electric so it wasn't a water cooler. At the time of the launch of the show, bottled water was not common in households. Having bottled water delivered as 5 gallon jugs were not available in your typical grocer, was likely their only choice in 1982 & perhaps the run of the entire show. Conspiracy theories in the 60s [when Steven and Elyse met and married] were that fluoridation was considered to be a Communist plot against American children. Being hippies, Steven and Elyse would likely have approved of, and perhaps even protested for fluoridation of water in the city of Columbus. Supplying water without fluoride to their family is likely not a concern for Steven and Elyse.

The bottled water may be a character error. I don't know if the water in Columbus is similar to the water in Toms River NJ. Is the water in Columbus OH unfit for drinking?
