Coogan/Morris?

Steve Coogan and Christopher Morris are listed as cast members for this show. Can anyone verify if this is correct?

reply

Yes, you're right. That's bizarre, not least after everything I said about Morris, Coogan et al leaving Richardson trailing. It's obviously a mistake, unless they were 'men in bushes' type characters mocking the insipid 'comedy' being enacted before them.

Steve Coogan is great, but how dare you call the Comic Strip insipid?! It's equally as good as Chris Morris' material and Steve Coogan's, just from a different era.

reply

Keep up, Wickid. I didn't call The Comic Strip insipid. You'd be hard pressed to find a bigger fan of TCS than myself. I called Sex, Actually insipid. I hope this correspondence is now closed - after all, it's surely better to honour the good, the classic and the noble failures.

With regard to Sex Actually I agree with you, but please don't try to make me out to be slow: "Keep up, Wickid."

You never mentioned Sex Actually on this post. All you said was this:

"Yes, you're right. That's bizarre, not least after everything I said about Morris, Coogan et al leaving Richardson trailing. It's obviously a mistake, unless they were 'men in bushes' type characters mocking the insipid 'comedy' being enacted before them."

There is no reference on this thread to Sex Actually in this post, and this is a general message board on "The Comic Strip Presents..." (1982), not a particular episode. If the person was referring to the Sex Actually episode, they should have said, but they just said that Steve and Chris were listed as cast members for "this show" which could mean anything.

But I'm glad you like The Comic Strip, anyway!

reply

Sorry, Wickid - no offence intended. Crossed wires, I guess. Nonetheless, the thread is about Sex, Actually, despite the opening post not referring to it by name. The original question concerned the mystifying appearance of Steve Coogan and Chris Morris in the IMDB credits for 'this show' (i.e. Sex, Actually).

Well not long to wait until the next one now - Rik Mayall apparently said he has already finished filming his part (can't be a big part if he's already finished, which is a shame) so hopefully it will be on our screens at Christmas or sooner! (it has to be better than the last one... I hope.

reply

It'd better be better than the last one. I know they've got it in 'em.
