I like them all!

Well, actually that might be not entirely true, because I haven't quite seen them all yet - going through the boxset and have seen everything from Seasons 1-6 except for Les Dogs but so far it's pretty much all been good. I just felt I had to post this after seeing some surprising pickiness on these boards - but then that seems to happen on every online community.

Admittedly, some are better than others, and if I had to choose some that I was close to not liking I know what they'd be. Summer School is too weird to be truly enjoyable, and The Yob has great ideas and some very funny parts but was far too drawn-out and had an unsatisfying ending. I'm amazed that anyone can find something to hate about Didn't You Kill My Brother, though!

"I may be a loveable old cockney racist, but I do love my reggae!"

"The biggest manhunt in British history. I didn't sleep for a week."
"I know. That's why I was hiding in your bed."

"Appearances can be deceiving. As Dr Samuel Johnson once said 'Blargle blarge blargle blargle!'"

It reminded me of Alexei Sayle's Stuff. Because it was hilarious.

Re: Didn't You Kill My Brother - hear, hear! It's a personal favourite. Alexei Sayle & Berly Reid: that's a double-act you won't forget in a hurry. I love Summer School and The Yob, too. Sayle and K. Allen were under-used, despite acting most of the others off the screen. The Yob is such a pitch-perfect dig at the 80s variation of 'the beautiful people', and the casting is great. Apart from anything else, it has Lia Williams in it. As for Summer School, I just love the characterisations - Desmond, Peter and Tark, and it was a great idea to satirise the 'hands-on' anthropological re-enactments that were becoming increasingly popular with short-sighted academics at the time. That a pre- or early-historic consciousness can't simply be re-created by dressing up seems have escaped some of the not-so-sharp profs. (As a sometime academic myself - Dr Pod, if you please, I've enjoyed taking this nonsense to pieces in seminars.) Come to think of it, I'm gonna watch it now.

I think the boxset is a lot of hard work, especially if you work or have to do anything during the week, i dont know about you, but i find that if an episode looks too grueling, i just leave it till later, ive left about 15 episodes because of this, does that happen to you or not? i mean some episodes are painful, but i did like the yob, i didnt like the ending, but i hated summer school, and quite a few others.

There's no accounting for taste, I guess - I think Summer School's by far the most underrated of the lot (and Dirty Movie the most overrated).
