Four men in a... and the Discreet Charm Of The Borgeoisie

Has anyone seen the movie The Discreet Charm of The Borgeoisie? It's very similar to the Four Men In a Car / Plane shows, all about people who are so competetive that they can't get anything done. I think this is a great commentary on capitalism.

Not sure I see the likeness, sub. The (hugely overrated) Discreet Charm... presents the bourgeoisie as walking towards their inevitable demise, a conceit which 60s radicals could enjoy thanks to the loss of nerve that ruling elites were beginning to experience, and which today's oligarchies continue to grapple with (but without the external focus for internal cohesion that the left once afforded them). Four Men in a Car certainly gives us the puffed up self-delusions of would be captains of industry, but we're talking middle management here, riding on a wave of confidence provided by the paper thin paper economy of the 80s.

Apart from that, Four Men... is a darn sight funnier.

Sorry, I don't see it either. I've seen nearly all of Bunuel's 50+ films, most of them many times including "Discreet Charm" which I've probably seen at least a half dozen times. I'm also a huge Comic Strip enthusiast and I've seen the whole dvd set several times over. "Four Men In A Car" is one of my very favorite episodes. I know they're trying to get somewhere and never do, but otherwise, I can't find any similarity. Sorry!

On the other hand, "Les Dogs" feels like PURE Bunuel to me. Thoughts?
