Rebecca offering Sam 25k for the bar is a joke isnt it?

I mean I know it was around 90, 91 but 25k Would be less than Sam's salary wouldnt it? The property alone plus the income stream would be more than that. According to the inflation calculator 25k in 1991 is 44k. That is nothing.

Also the silly pool room and bathroom thing with the owner of melvins was annoying too, it just makes no sense. Also came out of no where granted this was common in sitcoms back then.

I thought Hill was hilarious.

Never got the impression that Sam owned the building, just the bar business (or else Melville’s would be paying him rent). Most of the actual worth of a business is in the inventory and beyond that the value all depends on his cash flow and inevitably, his profit margin.

Interesting, Kane. Have a business or something?

I mean I could easily see Sam renting. More so today than in the 80s before property took off. That being said you hear of screwy things like that arrangement of partial stuff being owned by neighbors a lot from back in the day, Id say it was reminiscent of pre 60s. The original bar owner and restaurant probably made it like that so if one sold before the other theyd have the right of first refusal.

It's never really stated. Though he said he bought the bar. He never mentioned anything about renting.
