Who was your least Favorite Character on Cheers.

What main character was your least favorite? I liked Carla but didn't love her because I thought she was too mean sometimes to be taken seriously.

reply

I can't stand Carla. She is mean, obnoxious and not funny EVER.

reply

Well, I wouldn't say ever.she's funny sometimes.

RIP Gene Wilder. One of the funniest people of all time. RIP Robert Vaughn

reply

Fair enough--it could be that I cannot stand her SO much that even if she has a funny line once in a blue moon I still don't find it funny. :P

She goes after Cliffie a little too much for my taste most of the time.

Henri. Every time that sleazy cheese-Eater entered the bar, I wanted to slap the accent off him.

reply

Pretty good accent though. I thought he was funny. I liked how everyone was like " Here comes that guy always trying to steal Woody's girlfriend." "Scoundrel.", "What a low class guy." "Hello, fellows." "Oh hey, Henri." , being all nice. Lol.

reply

lol I actually loved that too, don't get me wrong, the character was funny and well-written, it's just that he was a funny and well-written complete scumbag with hardly any redeeming qualities.

reply

Sure. But being funny which he was, is what it's all about. When he's taking pictures of Lilith?

Woody: "I thought you were taking pictures of us?"(Kelly and him)
Henri: "And I thought I ordered a soda?"
Woody: "Damn. Got me on a technicality."

Lol.

I hated Henri also. I said Fraisure in my first post because he was my most hated among the regulars. I didn't pay much attention to Henri because he was so horrible that I always fast forwarded through his presence.

Your loss. You're missing some great stuff then.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

Carla. She did not have any redeeming qualities.

reply

If I had a gun to my head, I'd pick her too.

Sammy is the best. I agree with that.

reply

I'd probably pick Diane, but if I was tool to pick someone who was on the series longer, I would definitely go with Cliff.

reply

How can Cliffie be your least favorite after Diane?

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

I don't find him nearly as funny as the other characters.

reply

Interesting. I find him the funniest character in the show aside from Sammy. Way funnier than Norm and Carla.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

Least favorite was Carla. Favorite was Sam and Frasier.

reply

Frasier was ok. His show was horrible though. Nowhere close to being in Cheers' league, John.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

That, I could see.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

Carla's character didn't age well at all. I think at the time it was so funny and unusual to see a mouthy woman like that. But nowadays she just seems like a nasty bitch.

reply

Totally agree with that, Frank.

I remember liking her when I first saw it in the 80s but she just seems like scum now. And her having a huge number of kids is pretty sick too, to different guys and she keeps having more, and they are all scum too (she says so herself) and they are raising themselves, and probably starving because she is a barmaid, and yet she still never learns to keep her legs together or buy a box of condoms. If it wasn't a comedy I would hate her!

reply

Well, hates a strong word. She has some good lines every now and then. One of my favorite Carla lines is when Coach over heard Sam tell Diane that a former teammate of his made a pass at his wife in "Coach Buries a Grudge", and there was a card board cut out of the guy, and he comes out of the bathroom and Carla asks him where he wants her to put the cut out and he punches it, then Carla says: "In that case, where would you like Diane to stand?" and he drags her in front of Coach. That's great stuff.

reply

I'm liking her more as time goes on, I'm up to season 4 now (watching it all again, from the start) and as I stop taking her seriously, she gets better. But I definitely have to remind myself to just see her as a comedy character and not a real person.

reply

There are people way worse than that in real life, Frankford. Believe that.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Robert Vaughn. RIP Carrie Fisher. RIP William Christopher. 2016 is the worst!

reply

Carla is my least favorite. She's funny but extremely unlikable.

"The end of the shoelace is called the...IT DOESN'T MATTER!"

reply

Diane. Her character really grated on my nerves. No offense to Shelley Long, because she's a good actress, but the character of Diane was soooo annoying!

reply

I'm the opposite. I once said that to someone, how much more I liked Diane to Rebecca. Can't remember how he put it, but he said I must like women who are more like Diane (academically smart, pretty and modest) rather than the more assertive and plain-spoken Rebecca. And I really don't like that woman's voice, she has a rasp and seems to talk loud all the time.
But the show was still good, and I suppose they could do really different stuff with Rebecca than Diane, so maybe it was good to get a completely different character in there. And they got lucky with Woody after Coach. Coach was irreplaceable, but Woody, while also a bit dim, was a completely new character and fit in really well.
