Remake

A friend of mine would like to see this film remade for the modern era, where a bunch of Iraqi / Afghan footballers are captured during the recent conflicts. They reform their team, and play the NATO forces team. They win / draw and then escape.

I am trying to convince him that it is a poor idea. Anyone else agree or disagree

Escape from Gumtanamoo POW camp? With orange POW uniform and chian on wrist and ankle? I wish they could have made it.

reply

And the climax of the movie could be that the Guantanamo escapees blow up an orphanage somewhere in the name of their god.

reply

Or the bomb is diffused by David Batty, and he gets back to the game before the final whistle and scores a penalty which condemns the Guantanamo escapees to face the firing squad. This stuff writes itself.

reply

Sounds like a horrible idea to me.

reply

Then you're an idiot. Brian Blessed could play Hatch and Morgan Freeman would be Pele.

Max Von Sydow would be computer generated.

I can't wait to see it.

reply

Watch Max Von Sydow in 'The Exorcist' and look at him now, the guy doesn't age lol...

reply

It is definately a poor idea. It should be left the way it is without any ideas or an influence of a remake whatsoever.

reply

Haha yeah I'm the idiot. Go take your movie idea to Hollywood, you should definitely put a lot of your own money into this great idea. With Morgan Freeman as Pele and "computer generated Max von Sydow" you can't possibly lose.

I always thought it would be funny to remake the Great Escape with AlQaeda as the heroes escaping from Guantanomo and us as the villians.
