that played the little freckle face boy that was Charlie's friend?
I know I have seen him in other things, but could not find him on cast list.

his name was John P. Navin Jr.- Derek Mellott

He seemed to be a favorite of NBC sitcoms. He appeared in ''The Facts of Life,'' ''Silver Spoons'' and I believe the very first scene of ''Cheers,'' episode one.

I think he was also Cousin Dale in National Lampoon's Vacation.

He and Tom Cruise also appeared in another movie together a couple of years later: "Losin' It."

In addition, I believe he was in a series with Ann Jillian in 1983 called "Jennifer Slept Here"...he was from NY, and his dad was a probation officer...lol
