Timothy Hutton Won His Oscar For The Wrong Role
I watched this movie in my Puerto Rico as the first part of a double-bill that concluded with MY BODYGUARD. 'tis customary in PR for the audience to perform a running commentary on the action in the screen, and this movie was no exception. A man told his wife: you will love him--pointing at Timothy Hutton--; he won the Oscar for this role. At the end of the movie, the wife enthusiastically admired Hutton's performance, and the husband replied: I told you; he won the Oscar. I didn't have the heart to tell him that he was thinking of ORDINARY PEOPLE; besides, I agreed with them: Hutton's heroic role in TAPS is much more impressive than the pitiful wimp he plays in Robert Redford's movie.
