I had seen that they were including the interviews (presumably the ones on the UK release?) for this, but I'm ecstatic to receive confirmation. Recently sold my DVD in anticipation for this, can't wait for what appears to be a true collector's edition.

Thanks for posting that, donnyg. I'll be interested to hear reviews once it's hit the market.

I have the Region B release from the UK (I'm in Australia, myself), but I'm keen to hear what Shout's transfer is like. The Region B release is actually pretty good — the palette is muted, and the grain is a wee bit heavier than most people seem to like, but I suspect that reflects the look of the original film, so I doubt it's a fault of the transfer. Shout isn't noted for the quality of its transfers, so I doubt it's going to better the UK release, but I guess we'll see.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

From blu-ray.com:

Shout! press materials tout "a new high definition transfer" without explicitly addressing the issue of whether it's newer than (and different from) that used for the lackluster British blu-ray released by Second Sight. I don't own the British version, but a cursory comparison of screenshots suggests that if this is the same master, at the very least some color correction has been done.

It does seem though that the cast/crew interviews are indeed new, but not the [longer] Hill-only documentary that accompanies the UK release. I have mixed feelings about this, but still can't wait to nab this baby.

Sometimes the reviewers at Blu-ray.com really do talk out of their cakeholes. "Lacklustre"? Hogwash. The whole question of colour timing, though, on any Blu-ray, is a very thorny one, and the folk at Blu-ray.com are often extremely cranky about it, in both senses of the word. And they'll vehemently, angrily tell you that you can't tell anything whatsoever from a screen capture ... until they need to refer to one themselves to justify their own point of view. Then, of course, it's an entirely different story!

Anyway. As I said, I'm content with the UK release, but I'd still be happy to see Shout put out a version that makes me jealous!
