Not Enough Nell

If I have one complaint about Shock Treatment (just saw it for the first time), it's that it really could have benefited from more Nell Campbell. She was my favorite thing about Rocky Horror. It's great that she's in Shock Treatment (as Nurse Ansalong), but it's too bad she's stuck in the background most of the time, with only a few lines and only a little singing.

Could have done with more Rik Mayall!

reply

I want to see this so bad!
Yeah I agree that its a shame there's not a lot of Little Nell. She totally ROCKS!

I've seen this movie at the video store and I knew that the sequel of RHPS was called Shock Treatment, but I never made the connection, ahaha!

reply

ooo you're not wrong there. although rik looked a little out of place but i realize this was very early on in his career so....i forgive him *kiss kiss*

reply

I saw this yesterday and you are so right about Nell. I was so angry at how small her part was.

reply

Her part in RHPS wasn't all THAT big either though!

I agree Nell should've had a bigger part. Her RHPS role wasn't the biggest either, but Columbia was so eccentric and out there, she stole every scene she was in! Nurse Ansalong had very very few lines, plus we're never actually sure what role she had in the overall story. Her only singing lines were in 'Look what I did to my Id' and 'Shock Treatment'.

They could have kept the character but made her more eccentric, and made Nell look more 'Columbia'- you couldn't recognise her!

reply

She looked amazing!

It was pretty obvious it was here when she speaks!

"Just tea, thankyou"

I thought she was absolutely gorgeous in this! I thought Pat Quinn looked great too!
This makes me want to pull it out and watch it.

"She is my Mirror of Erised, I look into her and see everything I've ever desired."

OMG, never cared for how Nell looked in RHPS, but here...WOooooooOOO! Love her in the nurse outfit and the way her hair was done! EXTREMELY hot! Yes, more of her, even as eye candy woulda been nice!

Actually, Moonlighting, she sang in Lullaby too. Great song, and great solo by Nell. She sang back up in Farley's song (Looking at an ace). But I have to share my opinion that her character in ST was eccentric and out there as well. We just don't get enough of it. :)

reply

I agree that she should've had more of a role but my God, she was some good eye candy. But if you guys want to see alot of nell in a movie go watch Jubilee, she is in every single scene.

reply

Nell... Legs... Ass... Boobages... Bwaaaaaaa. :*

Who cares about lines? Canadian is right. Eye candy is the role she was made for.

Columbia and Magenta roles are much the same size (I've count the lines ages ago).

Yes, I would say Nation's part is large that Ansalong. I wouldn't be surprise if both parts are smaller that in RHPS. I think that's mainly because they are so many characters (too many?) in Shock T.

But I generally, think they should more of them in both movies, particularlly Shock Treatment.

reply

I couldn't agree more!

Having nowhere near enough scenes with Nell was my number one gripe about the film. It felt like she was just plonked in the background to look sexy.

The role was an insult to her talents, as any other actress could have filled her role in 'Shock Treatment'.

It really did feel like a waste of what could have been a potentially interesting and funny character.

But that said, Nell did look absolutely gorgeous in this film.

I recommend 'JUBILEE' if you want a lot of Nell.

To think Adam Ant had a real life fling with Nell during the filming of JUBILEE... Lucky bugger!

And I guess a little more of Rik Mayall would have been nice, as he was neither here or there in the film really.

reply

She is smokin in this one!!!!!

reply

I concur. I thought Nell Campbell was worthy of a larger role in "Shock Treatment". I guess that was because Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick and Meatloaf were not on board for the "sequel".

Yes, I thought Nell was red hot smokin' in "Shock Treatment". She didn't impress me much in "Rocky". Maybe it was because I was in awe of Susan Sarandon in a bra and half slip. I was about fifteen the first time I saw Rocky.

reply

You would think if leaders of RHPS Tim, Susan and Barry aren't it the "sequel" then it would be better to give return actors bigger parts?

I do think Shock Treatment went into production without fully written. With a complete re-write after various actors said they did not wanting to return. Then the last minute change of location, it was suppose to be made in the US (Texas somewhere?) then got moved to London due to a writers (or actors) strike.

She is the only reason I made it a point to watch this movie. You can never have enough of her. Beauitful girl.

One way that I would of liked seeing Rocky Horror continuing on in some form would of been a film that centered on Columbia and Eddie's relationship. An outlaw biker film romantic singalong featuring Nell and Meatloaf reprising their roles
