Sharky discovers that Domino is sleeping with a senior political figure and also a mobster. He himself falls for her due to the constant surveillance. Too far fetched??

In the 1960s, there was a triangle between President John F Kennedy, Judith Campbell and mob boss Sam Giancana. The director of the FBI had files based on wiretaps and photographic surveillance. I wonder if the film is making a cheeky nod to that?

According to wiki, the author William Diel was a successful photographer and journalist before he wrote novels in his 50's (which this film was based). Perhaps he heard FBI stories from his trade, and then wrote the novel.
