Lorenzo D. The tune used for the movie trailer is "Street Life"
by the Crusaders. Featuring the great r&b singer
Randy Crawford on vocals and featured only briefly
in the film. It is available on the self-titled cd
released in 1979. It may be tough to find in record
stores though it's widely available on Amazon and
Ebay. Also available on a Best of Crusaders
compilation cd as well.

Well, it wasn't exactly briefly, it's essentially the 'theme song' playing in it's entirety at the start of the film. And anyone looking for it should be aware there are different versions recorded by Crawford over the years so make sure it's the version from 79.

Lorenzo D. Thank you Romer68 and I stand corrected! This original
version also appears on cd "The Crusaders Finest Hour"
released in 2000 on Verve Records. It's a best of
compilation of the jazz group's most commercially
successful years of hits. The full version of
Street Life runs 11 mins. 16 seconds.

Wow, sounds cool.
shareI mastered a CD from an audio cassette. Vinyl and tape copies are out there, but it's getting more expensive all the time to acquire one. PEERs of this compilaTiOn may find PEERless digital copies in some kind of audio-enthusiast forum some time soon.
shareI have been collecting movie soundtracks for twenty years now, and have actually held this one in my hands. Bad news, though. It was on vinyl.

i have this on my comp

I just bought a vinyl copy.
shareFound the whole soundtrack on a blog the other day. Vinyl rip. Had to clean the songs of noise, but they sound perfect. I've also extended it with two songs. The missing "Finis Tasby - After Hours" and the Al Capps assassination instrumental. Also added the missing minute 1:32 sec. intro to "Street Life" that played in the beginning of the movie to the soundtrack's song. Stupid that it was cut off. If anyone would like a copy of the whole thing, write me at [email protected]. If your message gets oddly bounced, as it does with some people at times, try [email protected] instead.

I tried both addresses, they didn't work for
some reason. Could i get a copy please?.
If yes, please write me at,

Not sure why you had trouble with both. I know the fastmail one does give some people problems with connecting to me at times, but not the other. Weird. I'll write you via e-mail with the download link.

phaotal, I admire the kind of thing you did there, putting together a "special edition" CD. I find myself doing a lot of that, including 3 007 films so far (DR. NO, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, O.H.M.S.S.). And just this month, I transferred 2 songs from SHARKY'S MACHINE from LP, 1 each for 2 completely different "custom comps". (I almost felt "guilty" for not just doing the ENTIRE LP all at once, which I usually do... my LP is in REALLY good shape, too.)

Thanks for the compliment. I put together extended soundtracks to 80s films all the time. Right now, I have 332 official/extended complete; 52 officially complete, but not totally in extended form and 45 incomplete.
As for Sharky's Machine, I have 15 tracks. Here is my track list, in play order:
01 - The Crusaders with Randy Crawford - Street Life
02 - Flora Purim and Buddy de Franco - Dope Bust (Instrumental)
03 - Finis Tasby - After Hours (Instrumental)
04 - Bob Florence - Assassination (Instrumental)
05 - The Manhattan Transfer - Route 66
06 - Doc Severinsen - Sexercise (Instrumental)
07 - Al Capps with Burt Reynolds and Rachel Ward - My Funny Valentine
08 - Peggy Lee - Let's Keep Dancing
09 - Chet Baker - My Funny Valentine
10 - Sarah Vaughan - Somewhere, Someway (Love Theme)
11 - Doc Severinsen - High Energy (Instrumental)
12 - Joe Williams - 8 To 5 I Lose
13 - Julie London - My Funny Valentine
14 - Eddie Harris - Sharky's Theme (Instrumental)
15 - Sarah Vaughan and Joe Williams - Before You
If you have anything other than those above, I would love to get them from you. Please write me at [email protected]. Thanks.

Hi,
It's been a while, but if you can send me the tracks from the Sharky's Machine soundtrack that would be so appreciated. I have it on a cassette which is in pretty bad shape. I used to listen to it all the time in the 80s. Great soundtrack. Thanks. - Francesca : [email protected].
Funny, too bad you didn't watch what she was throwing out! That's a good way to lose some iconic items, having a chick clean house for you! They'll throw everything out!
I doubt the soundtrack is easy to find, and a 29 year old cassette tape is not going to play worth a damn, but if I ever find it on Vinyl, I'll pick it up. Vinyl will last for decades. I have soundtracks going back to the 1950's! Check it out:
