Ultimate 70's/80's Horror Spoof list

Let's start a list of 70's and 80's slasher film satires.

Try to lay off the obvious mainstream ones, guys. No one needs to be reminded of the "Scary Movie" franchise, those are too obvious, recent, and mainstream. I'm talkin' movies in the same vein (open, bloody vein) as 'Satuyrday the 14th'!

Okay, I'll get us started:

1) Wacko
2) Student Bodies
3) National Lampoon's Class Reunion
4) Saturday the 14th
5) Pandemonium
6) Saturday the 14th Strikes Back
7) Return To Horror High

We're mainly looking for 80's slasher spoofs here, I'm not including monster spoofs or zombie movie satires, so no 'Attack of the Killer Tomatoes', 'Translyvania 65-1000', Teen Wolf', 'Monster Squad', 'Haunted Honeymoon', 'Young Frankenstien', 'Dracula Dead and Loving It', etc etc.

Is this film really that great? its on on the horror channel just before bedtime so I will have to tape it.

You can almost taste the excitement...and the flavour is brick!

reply

It's not all that great, actually, from what I can remember of it. Haven't seen it since the mid 80's. I remember liking it though. It would probably seem kind of lame to my adult sensibilities. But I enjoyed it as a kid.

C'mon, people; help me compile this list of ultimate 80's slasher spoofs!

Two of my favourites of the time were:

The Creature Wasn't Nice (1983)
Hysterical (1983)

Strange things are afoot at the circle-K.

I remember a few that will fit the list.

1. Monster High

2. Microwave Massacre

3. Fat Crazy Edna (I believe that was the name of it..or it was something very close to that).

4. Serial Mom (Anything by John Waters always seemed a little scary/funny to me. Just look at Divine. Yikes!!!!!)

5. Although their not spoofs, there were some pretty funny sceens in ALL the Living Dead Movies

Hopes this helps..

Which was the movie that had the counter in the corner?

The killer used silly every day stuff to kill everyone and every time he killed them, the counter went up! I can never remeber the name of it but it amused me.

Great list, xander, except the two Saturday he 14th's aren't slasher spoofs (Hell, they're not even spoofs at all. Just lame horror/comedies).

reply

Now that you mention it, that's true. The two Saturday the 14ths aren't slasher spoofs at all, actually. They're "spookomedies", or monster-movie inspired spooky comedies. Which should have disqualified them from the list we're making here, going by my own criteria. However, these two flicks (mainly the first 'Saturday') are generally percieved by the uninformed as "slasher spoofs" (even though they are actually nothing of the sort), due to the name recognition associated with the infamous 'Frdiay the 13th' slasher film series. Therefore, we'll include these two by default. They just barely make the list due to an exception to the established rules caused by the hair of a technicality.

reply

I can live with that.

Anyway, I think you've got them all covered.

Bloodbath at the House of Death.
Opening scene was funny. Rest of film wasn't
