Good Film But Was It Obvious.....??? (SPOILERS)

I liked this film and thought overall it was well made, the gore effects were excellent and it was suspenseful. However, as soon as a certain person left for their fishing trip and was conveniently out of town, I was convinced there and then that I knew who the killer was going to be. And this time I was right!

Did anyone else think this and expect the killer to be unmasked as their prime suspect within the first 20 minutes?

You know I actually never really cared for "whodunit", to me it didn't matter. This film is really spooky with some genuine tension in it, that was my journey so for me the ending didn't really matter. At a time when I do anything to lay my hands on a decent spooky horror film, when so many were just CRAP, and this wasn't, it was such a surprise.

But then I knew who the killer was in Prom Night very early on and that didn't cruel my enjoyment either. Ditto The Burning, there was never any doubt who the killer was in that one, and it was still thoroughly enjoyable.

You can rest your mind at last, you've resolved the horrors past...

I'm pretty sure they don't try to make you guess the killer in THe Burning dude...it's pretty obvious in the first 10 minutes that the dude who nearly burned to death is a bit pissed off. lol

Most 'whodunnit' slashers, you can usually tell who the killer is lol.

Yes, it was a little more than obvious. In fact, I'm ashamed of myself for not catching on to the killer's identity while watching it. When The Prowler was finally revealed, I had a major facepalm moment.

Maybe, maybe... yeah. Then again, this was a 1981 slasher and I don't think the mystery about the culprit was necessarily the main point. If you think about it, they give enough clues about what kind of person it might be right from the start (although in recent movies, they come up with super bizarre twists to make the obvious appear much less so...).
