Something magical about this movie.

If you were a teenager in the late 70's or earily 80's, there was something magical about this movie. It may seem cheesy to some who watch it in modern times, but Sylvia Kristel is still something of a goddess to me. Maby I'm still a little awestruck but this movie is a reminder of a time in the 80's long past. The music, the women; just the way things were, something magical about the 80's. Unless you were there I doubt you would understand. When the cable boxes had one dial that you turned to get one station, the Lakers with their new star, Magic Johnson; and so on. I miss the eighties and this movie, cheesy or not, is a reminder of a marvolous time.

I agree completely. This was one of the first movies that I saw naked women in, and since then I have always remembered it. This movie made me the perv I am today....LOL

agreed. & i am a female. i think the people complaining about this movie are ridiculous. philly wasn't a child, he was a teen. that is a pretty significant difference, when labeling something as pedophilic. he may have been vulnerable to the plot they had schemed against him, but he was living out a fantasy, something ANY teen would gladly do, & in some cases, they will fight whoever opposes it.
anyway, i gave it 8 stars, because like you said, it's just sort of magical, in more ways than one.
it had some clever metaphors, which i think are overlooked by most, because of the low budget & comedic feel. the housekeeper found a boy who treated her with more respect than most 'men', while we watched philly blossom into a man over the course of a summer. & by blossom i mean he found his self confidence. no one could make a film like this today. just look at this board. lol. & it's funny because i think kids are more sexually active today & at a younger age, than when i was growing up (during the time this film was made).
i caught this on flix late at night, & what a treat...so much nostalgia, the clothes, the music, the scenery. i wish there were more films like this from that era (that are easier to find).
