Finally on 2-Disc DVD from Warner Bros.!!!!!

Finally this movie is coming out on DVD on March 27th, 2007!

I will never give them up.” From Robert Daley’s riveting book about New York City police corruption investigations, director/co-writer Sidney Lumet’s film portrays a squad that pays a terrible price when one in its ranks does just that. Treat Williams (as Ciello, inspired by real-life undercover narcotics cop Robert Leuci) leads a terrific ensemble cast which includes Jerry Orbach, Bob Balaban and Lindsay Crouse in a standout performance as Leuci’s wife. This gripping film, which features 130 locations and 126 speaking parts, won Lumet a New York Film Critics Best Director Award and an Oscar nomination (with Jay Presson Allen) for the screenplay.

I hope there are more special features than just that. A making of docu and a trailer - that's it? Don't get me wrong, I'm psyched that Warner Bros is finally releasing it, but that seems a little light on the extras.

It's official. That's the good news. The bad news is it has been pushed back to May 22. But soon enough, we'll be able to scratch another great movie MIA on DVD. Now if we could just get Looking For Mr. Goodbar, Shoot The Moon, Sometimes A Great Notion, Men Don't Leave... But I digress.

Oh yeah - no word on Lumet's The Hill yet. Hopefully also coming this year.

The push back explains why I couldnt find anything about when searching future releases. Gee-zuss, just get the thing out there, ok? From cocky prince to bleeding gums, this is one of the best cop stories ever. Great characters, great dialog.

Do you think the DVD will have the scene where Danny tries to crash his car and is pulled over by the Virginia trooper? I saw that on TV once, but never again. I recorded POTC on my DVR a few months ago and burned a DVD from it, but that scene was not in that broadcast.

I assume since the scene you mention (a trooper in Virginia stops Danny) is on the VHS it would be on the DVD.

It isnt on my version of the vhs. Maybe a later version. I only saw that scene when it was being broadcast many years ago.

I've seen this movie so many times; but the suicide attempt was only added for when it was aired on TV.

Also only on TV is when Danny goes back to the locker room to tell the other cop his dope was bad. If I remember, the other cop is bench pressing when Canny comes back.

I suppose there's a chance those scenes will be presented as 'extras' on the DVD, but don't count on it.

Treat Williams and Sidney Lumet should have gotten Oscars, or at least nominations. A pitch perfect film that works on every level.

The special edition DVD is currently being released in Europe.

I've got a French copy. It is the theatrical version spread over two DVDs (the second one runs for less than one hour). The featurette is a half hour long. But no deleted scenes, unfortunately...
