Does anybody know which character is supposed to represent Giuliani in the movie? It's been a while since I read the book, but I remember that he was one of the US Attorneys that worked with Bob Leuci in investigating corruption.
Mario Vincente is Rudy Giuliani. That's the prosecutor who befriends Danny towards the end and convinces him to give up his partners.
Obviously this is a fictional character; it's hard to imagine Giuliani being so kindly and warm. Whatever you think of Rudy, warm and fuzzy he is not.
However, the book, which is non-fiction, describes how Giuiliani helped Leuci (the real-life Danny) through the agonizing process of deciding to confess everything and give up his partners. Giuliani also advocated strongly for Leuci and was instrumental in keeping him from being prosecuted.
Leuci, by the way, has written several cop novels. I tried one, but Robert Daley is the man in this department.
We report, you decide; but we decide what to report.
Thanks for the answer! I've only read one of Leuci's books (Captain Butterfly), but I have to agree with you about Robert Daley- "Target Blue" is one of my all-time favorites.
