Is there anyway to get the full length version ?
My bf got the 2 tape US version of 167 minutes, but I understand there was a 4 hour version. Is there anyway to find this ?

Years ago when they used to show this on television they did it over two nights and I can remember two scenes in the tv version that weren't in the vcr version.
So it might have just had added scenes to fill out the 4 hr tv version.
As far as I know, the version that is coming out on dvd in the us in March 2007 is the full length version with some additional scenes that were only shown when the film was broadcast on tv over two nights back in the early 1980s. It's not 4 hours, probably more like 2 hrs 45 mins. It was 4 hours long when you count the commercial breaks.
As a longtime fan who has a cherished, though pan-and-scan, Laserdisc copy, I CAN'T WAIT!!! until this comes out. Finally to be able to see this in widescreen glory with the longer running time! Hallelujah!
It was already 2:47 in the theatrical cut. Four hours of broadcast TV would be 3:00 running time today, but longer than that back in the early 80's.
shareThe added scenes were anything but filler. I had never seen the theatrical cut when I watched the TV version, and pointedly looked for even one scene that could have been cut without seriously compomising the storyline. There weren't any.
Assuming that the forthcoming DVD is the full cut, you're going to see a flick where every scene contributes in terms of character motivation, and I supect that a lot of what seem in the theatrical cut like small holes, points of confusion or lack of clarity, or under-motivated behavior will be fixed beautifully.

I've just read "All The Centurions" by Robert Leuci himself. This book details more of his police career, right back to his academy days. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Does anybody know where you could track down the TV version as that new DVD edition did not have all that extra footage?
