This movie's lesson for me was: [SPOILER]

LEAVE THE GOVERNMENT ALONE!!!

Danny Ciello, actually Bob Luci (sp?), tried to do the right thing and he went to the Government to make amends for his wrong doings and to try to make the world a better place. The Government almost steamrolled Danny along with the people he reported for doing wrong. I was 13 years old when I first saw this movie in the spring of 1981 and this was the message that I learned from it. I am also going to say, considering that this movie was set in the early 1970's, today I think that the Government would actually steamroll the whistle-blower/do-gooder.

"Early 1970s" needs deleting or changing to just "the 1970s" (The Captain & Tenille's "Love Will Keep Us Together" background song in the nail salon was from mid-decade [1975]) and the printed photo cards of SIU officials were dated with 12/31/1979 expiration dates while mugshots of arrested gangsters were dated with 1978 dates.

The setting did start out in the early 1970's. Regardless of an debatable error of seven years the movie's lesson for me still stands.

We're not soldiers and he's not the enemy. He's a pizza man.
