Scene With Anna In Church With Christ Statue

Did anyone else notice the scene where Anna is looking up and wailing at the Christ statue in the church to the scene of Harvey Keitel in The Bad Lieutenant making the same annoying wailing sound at the church when Christ appears before him? I didn't really like either film all that much because of these over the top performances and especially because of these primal gutteral outbursts.

I'm glad someone else noticed this. It was almost shot-for-shot identical. Even down to the pathetic noises they make!

Theres a meaning behind this scene in Possession.
If you notice the movie is VERY religious, with some scenes of the bible and the cross coming across every now and then.
I believe that scene was being shown to us from God's point of view. Shes asking God for help, but God has shut her down and wont listen to her, because of her sins (having an affair with another man while she has a child and husband of her own), and also going through divorce, which is forbidden in the bible.
Shes asking God for help, but God wont listen because she chose the way of the devil, hence the MADNESS scene in the subway scene, RIGHT after her visit to the Church.
Since god has shut her down, he hears nothing from her but pointless moaning.
