Can't find the version I want...

I have purchased the Wham USA! version, the Super Snooper version, the new U.S. version that came out a few weeks ago and the Millenium Storm Italian only version...where can I get the version with the Director's interview and the Mustache bad guy interview with the English and Italian dubs???? I went to ebay.it and another Italian site where I ended up with two dvds of the Millenium Storm Italian only version...can someone help me and my kids???

reply

I just received the Italian version! Finally! I have it!

Congrats! But I'm curious to know what your other Italian version really is? The Millennium Storm DVD should be the one with the interviews and Italian/English audio options, or is there another official Italian release. Perhaps Ebay pirates were selling an inferior rip disguised in the Millennium storm packaging?

reply

It has a different Millenium Storm Logo and must be the bargain bin Italian version...I have an extra copy if you would like...it isn't a bootleg for sure...

hey coolestmovies, it's me again. i talked to you before about buying the Italian DVD. i have a relative in Italy right now who's going to hopefully look in the stores for me. anyway, so looks like there are 2 versions of the Italian one, and i want to make sure i get the right one!

so which is the good one?, i.e. the one with all the extras you mentioned.

1) the rainbow cover with blue sky background and Italian logo in red.
http://film-dvd.dvd.it/dvd-commedie/poliziotto-superpiu/dettaglio/id-2 30958/
it says Millennium Storm, region 2, and includes trailer and special "Fists, and magic bullets".

2) similar cover but also with movie credits at the bottom also in red.
http://www.unilibro.it/find_buy/Scheda/dvd_film/regista-sergio_corbucc i/sku-12067392/poliziotto_superpiu__.htm
it says Area 0 (All), and contains trailers, special.

they are both the same price: 12.99 Euros + shipping

i also checked ebay.it and found 2 right now that ship to USA. one of each kind of cover. the one with first cover doesn't say much, and the one with second cover says PAL, and Area 0 (All) again.

so is 2) the DVD Storm one you were talking about in this other thread?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082924/board/thread/38702164
and is that different from Millenium Storm?

also is picture for 1) just stock poster art and maybe not the real dvd cover? what cover is yours?
i know 2) is a real cover as there are photos of the DVD itself on ebay.it for that one. i couldn't find any for the other one.

i'm wondering if these two DVDs are the same but with one just being region-all?

i know you are the expert on this ;).

thx, ms9

Sorry for the late reply. Noticed your message at YouTube, so responded to you there.

For anyone else interested, both of the links above very likely are for the same product. The one in mS9's SECOND LINK, with the credits in red underneath the main title (also in red) is the version I have. It has the same special features mentioned in the DVD at the first link, leading me to think the retailer at the first link is simply using a poster image or a blowup of the sleeve that omits the credits.

All in all, this is absolutely the best version of this movie to own.

i finally got my DVD and just got to watching it yesterday. it IS as GREAT as you said, with soundtrack, widescreen, and the extra feature "Fists, Bullets, and Magic". i didn't end up getting it from either of those 2 places i mentioned above, either. i found one much cheaper on ebay.it, so took the chance, and ended up with the exact same one as yours (including rainbow with red credits at bottom)! this seller only shipped within Italy, but my cousin over there just came back with it recently (shipping price to USA is way too HIGH otherwise).

and funny, it worked just fine in my normal dvd player and TV!, and also on my computer, so it must be a Region 0. it's a legitimate copy for sure, in no way possible a bootleg. and as far as price, i got it brand new for 5 Euros + 5 Euros shipping = ~$13 USD. i got a great exchange rate on the Euro, as we all know it's way down these days. so total was about the same as i would've paid for the inferior USA version here!

in case anyone else is in a similar situation (i.e. know someone in Italy), my seller on ebay.it was "newmagicplanet1" (with 100% feedback score of 1291). after i bought mine, they put another one up. they have one up now, too, for same price. i will say that their ad says 107 mins, but my DVD says only 92 mins. the difference may be accounted for in the extra feature, though. in comparison, both of my 2 links above (for the bigger stores dvd.it and unilibro.it) also have runtime stated at 92 mins. and USA version (or at least one i looked at) is set at 97 mins.

Congrats on the score. Sorry for the late reply. Just got your notice in my YouTube inbox! Nice to know the disc is region-free AND NTSC apparently. That means anyone anywhere can buy it and enjoy it. The only reason I probably thought it might not play is because I play everything in a region-free DVD player, so I tend to assume (incorrectly, as I now find out) that imported Euro discs will be Region 2 or PAL, and thus unplayable on North American machines. Nice to be proven wrong on this one!

Also, the difference in run times (92 vs. 97 min.) is possibly due to the Pal Speedup factor (best to look that up if you're unfamiliar with it) because otherwise, there's definitely not five minutes of footage missing on the Italian version. The 107 minute time listed on the eBay site must have been a simple error.

of course this just gets more interesting now. it's working but i'm not even sure how anymore, or at least i didn't think it would be this easy. the back of my dvd cover does say PAL, but i do have a hybrid TV. i tried looking at DVD player on-screen menus to see if it was running PAL there, too, but i couldn't find anything. i'm surprised it worked cold turkey now w/o adjusting any settings on my DVD player or TV. but now that i know it's PAL, the runtime diff could be PAL speedup, sure, but that calcs to only 4 mins, not 5 (although could be roundoff error). anyway, i thought the USA version was different anyway, not just in quality of transfer, but also the editing, too, etc.? or could be a combination of both speedup and version. anyway, it's not important. it works and is fine, so that's what counts.
