He directed one film which was a low-budget one in like the 70s. He worked as a art director all this time. He finally gets a chance to direct a big film and gets fired and he can't finish the ending. At least they gave him the credit of directing.
CaptainAlexReilly:James Cameron sucks. Me:WHAT? James Cameron sucks? no! are you retarded? that man created the Terminator for gods sake what has the world come to. CaptainAlexReilly: But he also made Avatar and Titanic and they made alot of money, money equals overreated right. I was'nt born when his best movies came out so i'm acting mature by saying things are overrated then people think i have taste in movies cause i clearly dont cause im a tennage douchebag.
Wow, The Terminator, T2, and True Lies are 3 of my favorite films. Sure I liked Titanic and Avatar but seriously, Terminator sucks??? What an influential story to hate on... You must hate good scifi. Enjoy Underworld and Ultraviolet. Maybe more your speed?
"If you hate The Terminator you obviously hate sci-fi in general."
That's quite an ignorant statement.
I love sci-fi, and there are plenty of good pre-Terminator sci-fi films, such as "Fantastic Planet", "Turkey Shoot", and "Zardoz", all of which are much better than "The Terminator".
Don't tell me what I do or don't like based on one film of the genre. Your logic is ridiculous.
Awww c'mon, True Lies? I had no idea that was Cameron for the longest time and loved it. Really funny movie and newer films like Mr. and Mrs. Smith have ripped it off and aren't nearly as charming. I liked Avatar and Titanic as well, but True Lies is just great comedy action.
Actually, thinking on what you said about the spectacles, I can see what you mean with Titanic, Avatar, The Abyss, and I'll never watch Piranha 2 except maybe to get toasty and laugh at. The point is that I never saw True Lies as a spectacle. I can remember more characters like Heston with the eye patch cracking me up than the action. Another example is Simon being brutally punched in the face after "A$$ like a 10 year old boy". That's funny stuff. That Simon scene where he's all bloody and then suddenly laughing like a jack a$$ is funny stuff and it's stuck with me for years!
I can understand what you say though, if you can't stand computer effects he has certainly embraced and gone all out with them at this point. He started the 3d trend that I hope fades. Sure 3d is neat but not when it adds to the price of a movie ticket. I'm a little unnerved that their re-releasing Avatar in theaters again with a whole 8 minutes added! Woo, I hope it just plain bombs horribly. There is art and then there is just plain money hunger. I'm just glad I didn't buy my dvd copy yet since I didn't feel it was worth $20. Now I'll get the "uncut" version for cheap in a few years. Seriously, 8 minutes? Just wow.
OK, maybe "True Lies" belongs in the same category as "Titanic"...it was at least entertaining at the time, but upon repeat viewings, it doesn't cut it for me anymore.
all the James Cameron hardons that pop up anytime someone bad mouths him.
You don't find it funny that he broke into the editting room to recut his own version? The dude has a god complex. Sure he's a great director but I find him to be a turn off. Just because someone has done great things doesn't mean we have to respect him.
It's a sad thing that your adventures have ended here
