Because the original works just fine on its own.

Maybe take that 90 million and spend it on a NEW story instead (Y'know, like Outland was back in 1981).

Or better yet, make 4 new stories.

Wouldn't that be something.

You mean a movie based on High Noon was a "new"story.

Of course it was. In the same way FORBIDDEN PLANET (Shakespeare's THE TEMPEST, set in outer space) was a new story.
