Deserves a Criterion release

This is just my opinion. I think Nighthawks is long overdue for a special edition release. Since Thief just cane out on a Criterion release with new features. Plus Blow Out from '81 is also on the a 2 disc Criterion release with new special features. it would be a dream come true if Criterion would release Nighthawks in a 2 disc feature containing both a Blu-Ray and a new DVD with the same special features. It would be nice if they included on the Criterion release a commentary track from the director, a 30 minute new documentary with Sly, Rutger Hauer and the director. Also a new featurette on the making of Nighthawks, an original 1981 featurette and teasers, trailers and maybe a TV spot. To me, this film was very underrated when it was released to theaters in April 1981 (can't remember the competition it had). Over time though, throughout the 80's, 90's and into today it has gained much more respect than it had back in '81. It would be nice if Universal or Criterion could re-release this film into a special edition. I would be one of the first to purchase it. If universal can release garbage such as Halloween II (81) and Halloween III (82) Special Edition's and all of these very low budget films that barely saw the light of day onto a Special Edition, it just doesn't make any sense. Nighthawks had major stars, a modest budget at the time plus a strong story-line. Somebody please get Nighthawks out on a Special Edition for the fans. I saw it '81 and still have a copy of it on VHS from '81 and '90, plus the 2005 DVD release that only contained a trailer or the film. If there is a petition to get this on Special Collector's Edition, I would sign it. Thank You for reading my rediciously long post.
