The internet has been buzzing with pleas from fans for the censored/missing footage since Shout announced it, so I bet they'll try. Can't wait to see what they come up with as they're likely the film's last and only hope.
The fact that this keeps getting pushed back is hopefully good news, and with a bit of luck it indicates that we might be in for something a bite more special than just the standard (music restored) release. Here's hoping.
"•NEW Lights, Camera, Action! – an audio interview with producer Herb Nanas •NEW Nighthawks: The First Draft – an interview with writer Paul Sylbert •NEW We Gotta Shoot This! – an interview with director of photography James A. Contner •NEW A Sign of the Times – an interview with actress Lindsay Wagner •NEW Not the Other Girls – an interview with actress Catherine Mary Stewart •NEW It Was Hell – an interview with technical adviser Randy Jurgensen •Theatrical Trailer •Radio Spots •Still Gallery"
And confirmed by Cliff on Facebook; we're getting the theatrical audio!!! :D
But of course what that list does NOT include is the Holy Grail of NIGHT HAWKS extras and the only thing anybody cares about, which is a restoration of the deleted footage.
That footage exists somewhere. It has to- the movie isn't all that old. But finding it means getting the right people to kick open the right doors.
I'd say 35 years is a very long time for a film like this. It's not as if it won Oscars or was deemed of cultural historical importance. For all anyone knows the deleted scenes may have been thrown out with the trash 20 years ago.
Is the last sequence(no spoilers!!!)finally intact or is it the same edited version?I am asking since I saw no reference in any thread about the situation with the finale of the film in this Shout! release. It's one of the ruined scenes everybody was talking about.
