ungrateful Americans

we get their Hollywood movies shoved down our throats but it's near impossible to get our movies shown in the States unless they steal (remake) our movies

You got us. How did you know that all Americans sat around looking for ways to do just that?

reply

You missed the meeting doke88, we were waiting for you so we could discuss our plans to destroy Canada with the CIA's hurricane machine.

Oh gimme a break sweiland75, Hollywood is SOOOO far removed from real America it might as well be its own country, stop wrapping yourself in victimhood as nobody is impressed.

I live in Massachusetts so believe me, I've got nothing to brag about here either, we keep electing a guy whom left a woman to drown in his car.

eh,calm down,eh.you gave us Rush,this movie,bob and doug,and....uh....
well,hell,i tried.

"now, now, the canadian government has apologized on several occasions for bryan adams."

reply

Actually it's true and conservatives with a persecution complex can't bear the thought that Hollywood is a microcosm of the horrible capitalist society we call the United States, only the people benefiting from capitalism see its horrible side-effects and are sympathetic people borne of morals and ethics

reply

Thanks aroundaround we're all very proud of you, you can relax now because nobody reading this thread will ever accuse you of having any politcally incorrect thoughts. We're especially impressed by you preaching on high from a thread about a movie where a guy pickaxes people in the chest, rips their hearts out and puts them in candy boxes.

Hey while you're at it I think the threads for "Friday the 13th" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" could use your deep moral insights too.

reply

An ad-hom from somebody who thinks prison rape is funny and calls the left intolerant? Well, I never!

reply

Andybob.....you are hilarious! I couldn't have said it better myself!
Now if you will all excuse me, I am off to contemplate world domination while I watch "Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers!"

That is hilarious!

You tore off one of my chests!

reply

Oh my GOD! You can't get away from this tired American bashing. Be more original. it's the block list for you.

reply

It's because most Americans won't read subtitles. Most probably don't even realize this is a Canadian film. And most could care less.

Now how about you go bootleg and subtitle Ofelas, Chinmoku, & Morel's Invention for the rest of us Americans not lumped in with them?

reply

I haven't heard of those movies and none of them sound interesting.

reply

Your loss, man. Ofelas was a great film remade as the dreadful Pathfinder, Scorcese's remaking Silence, and J. L. Borges called The Invention of Morel the perfect novel while Renais bore it in mind making Last Year at Marienbad. What do you find interesting, the echo chamber of boring J-horror?

reply

Americans dont want foreign films in their native state. They must be remade by Hollywood first. Should be thankful for atleast that.

reply

That's ironic, considering Slumdog Millionaire won Best Picture Oscar last night.

Thank God, because most of "real" America is comprised of obesity, laziness, ignorance, apathy, religious condemnation, the list goes on. Hollywood (i.e. Los Angeles) is one of the most open-minded and culturally diverse places in the US.

As for the movies, it's supply and demand. Middle America is the culprit for most of the dumb horror remakes and idiotic comedies starring The Rock, et al. Not Hollywood.

reply

I'm going to assume you're not referring to me when you say middle America. I say so because I live in West Michigan and am damn proud of it, but unlike "most" of middle America I don't gobble up every over-hyped and overrated movie that comes to a theatre near me.

LMAFO!! You have to be joking. They are horribly racist, xenophobic, and bigoted and show zero signs of stopping that behavior.

Ade due damballa, GIVE ME THE POWER I BEG OF YOU!

reply

Not to mention that the studios have this strange compulsion to keep remaking asian horror films...

Yeah..."horribly racist and bigoted" because a Latino was unanimously voted mayor and other minorities currently hold high government positions. And because a city with so many different ethnicities living in close proximity creates mass "xenophobia." Yeah....right.
