What do you think happened to Axel?

Did he die down in the mine,or did he find another way out?

I never returned to Blood Mountain…but I carry it with me. In my heart. Always.

He had an arm off.

He bled to death.

He could have bleed to death but I somewhat wished they would have created a sequel to help answer these questions though. Now that would have been great to see I think.

George Mihalka went to Paramount trying to pitch an idea for a sequel, in which Sarah and T.J. would be married and their kids would be the likely victims when they go to the old mine, now turned into a dark-ride attraction or something. Too bad the Paramount meatheads gave him the big NO.

reply

Yes they were idiots there at Paramount because they could have built a franchise with this movie I think in my opinion. Thanks for letting me know about this ash-61. I appreciate it a lot.

It's a damned shame this film couldn't have been turned into a franchise, but at least we were finally given the uncut version this year.

If you remember what the sign said that was hanging over the opening that they went into and had the fight seen it said air ventilation shaft. That means it went back up to top side somewhere to bring in fresh air. If he tied a tourniquet around his arm he could have survived to escape. That was the sequel opening that could have been used. Axel coming out in a open field somewhere at the portal and getting away.

While I like that there was only one movie and not a sequel, I bet it could have been a pretty solid series had it materialized and happened that way.

Also Axel probably did survive. A sequel would have clearly shown him escaping and coming back for revenge. The miner look and everything is really creepy and awesome, btw. I haven't seen the remake, so I'll have to give that one a chance.

That would've been a great segue for a sequel! I like to think Axel made it out alive as well >:)

Axel escaped. he was backing into the mine to find a way out, swearing revenge against TJ and the town, then asking Sarah to be his bloody valentine. He was never killed.

Axel is now sole proprietor of Mabel's Launderette. Shhhh!

I always wondered why they never made a sequel, with Axel getting away at the end you would think it would have happened.
