What were they drinking

When Axel is sitting in the old car they share a white label bottle of Whiskey?

Anyone know the brand?

reply

No, too hard for me to see.

I don't know what's a sig. line? Can't think of one! Can you tell me what one is?

reply

Yeah same here.

The most-likely answers would be either Dewar's white label (although even blurry and white it doesn't quite look like it is) or just something fictitious for the film itself.

I think they intentionally don't want anyone to know so that's why it's out-of-focus. I even paused and still couldn't tell.

Yeah I was thinking either local no name from the era or made up. Too blurry to make out the writing. Although the bottle shape itself is fairly distinct. The closest I get to seeing letters/words is when TJ first thrusts it into the car in a semi jump scene.

Is it real whiskey, or is it something like ice tea? I have no idea what Canadian film law about this was back in 1980 (filming) or currently. I think here in the US it definitely would have to have been really ice tea or a similar non-alcohol drink. At least on tv, not sure about theatrical films.

In fact, if you look at the beer cans, when they drink it inside of the mines, the bottoms are double drained. It leads me to the conclusion that they are old fashioned cans to prevent product placement.
