Why hasn't the uncut version been released in the UK?
We still only have the theatrical cut.
shareBump
shareI didn't get the uncut DVD version until Christmas last year and it seemed to take a while to come out, even for over here (United States). I know my favorite podcast (The Hysteria Continues) mentions that it was really difficult to get in the UK as two of the hosts are from England and Ireland. I'm pretty sure they said there were issues when people from here tried to mail them discs and certain ones (horror) would get seized.
shareThe uncut DVD hit the states in 2009.
shareJust buy the uncut American one, normally cheaper anyway and multi region players are cheap as hell nowadays.
A naked American man stole my balloons
The UK won't release non-BBFC rated films, unlike the US where you can release 'unrated' versions. As the violence is fairly graphic - even if it's dated - I can see that pick-axe through the eye being denied an 18 cert.

Even on TV movies were severely cut in the UK, curse words badly dubbed or had edits where the film is chopping all over, maybe we got the US TV edits.
Then sometime in the late 90s the light switch flipped and everything was allowed but aired at later time. So no more "muddy funster" dubbing and graphic horror movies were aired late at night uncut as far as I know. Lethal Weapon and Die Hard werent shown at 8pm and got 10pm slots where nothing was cut.
