Is this out of print?
I've been trying to find a copy of this to purchase, but few sites have it and if they do it costs like $50-70! Anyone know?

That sucks. I wouldn't spend that much money on the dvd either. It's not like there's any extras or anything. Oh well, thanx!
shareI wish a company like Blue Underground could get the rights to Ms. 45 & put it out.

Start a free netflix account, get this movie in the mail, and keep it. There.
I'm about to watch it right now thanks to netflix.
At this point, the one way to go is to get the old USA Home Video copy. It's the only one I know of that's uncut. I got it for three dollars and it's in good shape for 1983.
shareI actually ordered a Korean bootleg on ebay a few weeks back for about $10 total (the shipping was more than the disc itself!). Afterwards, I went to Sacramento to visit my grandmother for Christmas and stopped by a Hollywood video to grab a rental for the evening. The store was closing down and selling off most of it's stock. I was literally jumping when I came across the old Image disc, and paid about $3 for it (also found Rawhead Rex, Slumber Party Massacre 1 & 2, and a slew of other OOP titles at the same price). When I returned to SF a couple of days later my Korean bootleg had arrived in the mail. The prints are identical, so until it gets a legit reissue the bootleg is the way to go.
There's also a French disc that's supposedly uncut, but it's still a bit on the pricey side. In my opinion, though, this movie is well worth $50 at the time being because it's above brilliant and there's no news of a reissue on the horizon. Happy hunting!
Oh, and nice screen name, MsTenebre!
Dude, renting an OOP movie from something like Netflix and keeping it is just a dick movie, end of story. I'm not denying that people aren't doing it, and I think that it's lame that the studios and distribution companies would allow a film to go out-of-print in the first place, but still. People get on those rental services for the sole purpose of being able to check out those movies. If you like it so much, eBay it. Or, if you DO like it so much to keep it, upload it online and distribute it, so at least other fans will have the opportunity to check it out.
It's just frustrating, because I've been on BOTH Netflix and some of their competitors, and neither of them currently have Ms. 45 for rent, and I've still NEVER even had the opportunity to see it.
I don't know who stated or where it was written here, but I can't find anyone recommending stealing it from Netflix.
I see nothing wrong with it, myself, and the only reason I have never done it is because I'm a geek about having the cover art.
Here's an idea, chief. Instead of bitching and moaning about not being able to rent it via Netflix, stop paying twenty goddamned dollars a month for their half-assed service and save up forty. That'll buy you the uncut French edition. You'll be way happy with the film and the best version available, and we'll be happy to not have to read your stale opinions on screwing faceless companies that screw everyone else.
If you'd like, I can even send you a link on a fancy distributor that is worth supporting.
I've owned the DVD for about 5 years now and it was only about $25.00. No extras, but what the hell. Great movie that I had been interested in for already 10 years to begin with.
"It was the nightmare man, he's coming to get me, Rachel"
man $50-70?
I should sell one or two of my 12,000 dvd's. I didn't know people would pay such absurd prices for movies I got for a few bucks at big lots.

Shuji Terayama forever.
This is one of the greatest movies I've ever had the pleasure of viewing. The Addiction comes close to this one. It's a shame to hear that the dvd is out of print?! On a side-note, Abel Ferrara is probably the most underrated living director at the moment.
shareApollo Drafthouse have the rights and it's coming out on DVD:
