Watching this now and wondering why this movies was seemingly so panned

I've watched it many times. Faye D doesn't give bad performance but she does go a bit over the top and seems to "overshoot the runway" in some scenes. And if you've read the book, it is quite different from the movie. They unintentionally "camped" it up for the big screen.

It was a terrible film, that's why. Yeah, Faye thought she would get an Oscar nod from this, but she was wrong. I don't see why she needed to since she already had one for Network.

The profanity probably worked against it in those days.
