I mean the guy is turning into a werewolf and she just stands there waiting to die, the amount of time it took that freak to transform she would have been across the border, god some people actually deserve to die.
For the shear reason to show a full transformation.....even though it's insulting to the way people would normally behave (see something frightening...RUN AWAY.) That's all I can think of.
It's part of the fight or flight response. Running away is one option that not everyone can do when they are in a frightening position. "The freeze response is hard-wired in our reptilian brain. When "fight or flight" is not an option, our autonomic nervous system goes into a freeze response and we become immobilized."
Well, I personally wouldn't know what to think if someone was transforming into a werewolf right in front of me. It's not something you see every day so I don't find it out of the question for someone to stand there watching in utter shock and amazement. I might freeze in place as well. It's easy for us to say "We would do this, we would do that" as outsiders, but we've never been in these situations so we don't know how we'd really act.
It's been a while since I saw it, but I THINK he was standing between her and the door, so she would've had to run from behind the cabinet she was at or behind, right by him to the door. He wasn't totally incapacitated. He was standing there looking at her. He could easily have just swatted her with his arm w/almost no effort or concentration.
But maybe that was just what I assumed and is not what the setup in the room was at all.
I had an incident once where someone was cutting through the screen on my bedroom window in the middle of the night. I opened my eyes and sat up....then I froze. Normally I'm a high adrenalin type person. But I froze. What was going on in that freeze was my mind was going over....am I imagining this? Is someone cutting my screen? Should I run out the front door? Should I be quiet so he'll think no one is home? Should I try calling someone on the phone? Should I look out the window? So the person is not just not doing anything. At least in my case. I was going over my options.
So if she had a clear path to the door, she might've been doing the same thing. She probably WOULD have been thinking...am I seeing right? Is this real? Am I crazy? Should I make a run for it? Should I hide? And other options. As I recall, she threw acid in his face? Not a bad option.
I always thought she was just in plain shock from what she was seeing/hearing. It's not everyday you see the man who tried to kill you and thought was dead not only face to face with you, but turning into a fearsome creature right before your eyes.
