Occult Bookstore scene

One of my favorite parts is the bit in the bookstore where he shows off the silver bullets and says the guy "never picked them up." Just a little throwaway line that hints at much more.

He asked us, "Be you angels?"
and we said, "NAY, we are but men," ROCK!

Well, think about it. These are the clues:

1) It's a werewolf movie.
2) A guy orders silver bullets.
3) He never returns to pick them up.
4) It's a werewolf movie.

Come back, zinc! Come back!

Ha, ha, ha, ha! I know what you mean...of course, of course. We all thought the man who originally ordered the custom-made silver-bulleted, 30-.06 cartridges was simply a deadbeat. It never occurred until just now, that he didn't pick up the bullets because he was...DEAD.

reply

It's just a funny little joke. Guys goes to order werewolf killing bullets and never picked them up. What might have happened to him?

What is that a reference too?

Wow. If you were being serious.. just wow!

Yeah. The book keeper/Dick Miller was good. Probably one of the few things I liked in the movie.

Kelloway: Doyle, get in the car.
Doyle: But I ordered Onion Rings.
Kelloway: Doyle!

Doesn't he say "thirty ought six. It'll pick them up." As in, you can fire these weird bullets from a thirty ought six?

reply

He says, "Silver bullets. Some joker ordered them: .30-06. Never picked them up." I would think saying you can fire .30-06 bullets from a .30-06 rifle would be stating the obvious...  ---It wants no straps. - Karlhttp://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000024/nest/158601447

I kept waiting for him to say "I may close early today!" (And then get blown away.)

But I know what you mean about the movie. I've just seen it for the first time, and ... well, I was expecting so much more.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

reply

"hey, you can't do that"

booom!

I can't recall ever seeing Dick Miller in a truly bad movie.. I'm sure he's probably made some, but I haven't seen them

or maybe not, lol http://www.amazon.com/Horror-Rock-Stories-Hendrix-ebook/dp/B004HFRKLG

reply

Haha wow, I never thought of the implications of that line before! That's great. Ya gotta love Dick Miller.

It feels like I've seen the bookstore before, in other movies/shows like... is this the one from the Friday the 13th series in the 80s? That doesn't see to be the correct show title as I cannot find it in IMDB. But I am talking about a guy and a red-head girl with big curly hair, with an uncle or something that owns the bookstore and artifacts in the bookstore brings them to some kind of adventure that becomes the plot of the episode. Does anyone remember?

reply

That certainly sounds like Friday the 13th: The Series.

Thanks. I noticed that it's filed as "Friday's Curse" in the imdb page.

So, do you think it's the same bookstore too? Haha it looks like :)

That's odd. I've watched this film many times, and never thought about the implications to that line either!
I loved that bookseller. He was also great as Mr. Futterman in "Gremlins".
