Questions About the Howling

1. Did Erle really want to kill himself on the beach by jumping into the fire and if so, why? Was he depressed about being old and never dying?

2. Did the doctor really intend to help Karen by bringing her to the colony for treatment or did he have another motive such as turning Karen into a werewolf?

I've always wondered that myself. At first, I assumed he was acting quirky in order to distract Karen, like a red herring. This could be true.
But as the film went on, I began to wonder if it was just his (literal) initial reaction to becoming a werewolf! Remember how the Doc had said some were having trouble *adjusting*? And a couple of the werewolves at the end mention this to Karen too, as she is trying to escape The Colony.

I believe his intentions were always to turn her & Bill into werewolves.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.
